Whole ride is in forest with the majority being really good tracks.  There is a short section of tarmac coming down from the mast.


Access by kind permission of Fountain Forestry, Brook Forestry, Scottish Woodlands, Forestry Commission and Dunecht Estates, Bell Ingram.  Venue by kind permission of Mr Ron Smith, Wester Coull, Tarland.  Please ensure all droppings & litter are removed from the venue field – dogs must be kept on leads.


Venue is located just off the Slug Road between Stonehaven and Banchory.

Venue is large grass field.  No hard standing for lorries in the venue field. 


There will be NO FARRIER at this ride, so please ensure shoes are in good order beforehand - thank you.


MARKING is primarily red and white tape on your left side.  2 tapes indicate a change of direction. 

Possibly some biodegradable spray paint on ground.  Yellow and black tape denotes a hazard. 

Letters and signs may also be used.

Tell Checkpoint Stewards your number as you pass.  Don’t expect them to guess! 

Please be considerate when passing walkers or cyclists.

Please WALK where specified! 





From North

Venue: OS Map 45 Stonehaven & Banchory  Grid Ref:  760917



Head for Peterculter or Banchory until you reach the A93 North Deeside Road – head for Crathes.  At Crathes take the A957 "Slug Road" to Stonehaven – follow for approx 4 miles and venue is on righthand side (Spyhill Farm) – signposted SERC. 


From South

From A90 northbound, take the second Stonehaven turn off to the left (Spurryhillock Industrial Estate) – follow road back over flyover (ignoring roads to right) until T junction – Turn left (signposted Banchory A957) – take second right signposted Banchory A957 to roundabout – turn left onto A957 "Slug Road" and follow for 8 miles – venue (Spyhill farm) on left signed SERC after sharp right hand bend.  see also images below.
