Drumtochty Ride

Venue:  Drumtochty Glen, near Auchenblae.

Description

A good workout for your horse with plenty of hill work. The competitive classes incorporate both North and South Drumtochty with the pleasure in South Drumtochty.

No gates and good tracks with some excellent views and lovely canter tracks.

Average speeds on similar tracks in 2007: 30=12.36, Tr=11.61, Pl=10.66

Please ensure all droppings & litter are removed from the venue field

PLEASE NOTE: Drumtochty Forest is well used by walkers & mountain bikers.  Please look out for people, dogs and cyclists and show due consideration.

Directions

From North:

From A90 southbound, take the B966 signposted to Auchenblae.  Go uphill through Auchenblae and Turn left signposted "Drumtochty Glen".  Continue for 1 mile to venue.

From South:

From A90 northbound, take the B966 signposted to Auchenblae.

Directions as above.

 

DOGS:   SERC riders may not take dogs on any part of the course.  Please keep dogs on leads at the venue at all times.

Before you start

  1. Collect your bib from the administration caravan.

  2. All members please hand in SERC Mileage card and Mastercard (competitive ride), Medical card and Membership card. The Mileage card & Mastercard should have the ride date & the venue pre-written on them.  Non Members complete medical card at admin.

  3. Check for any ‘on the day’ route changes.

  4. The ‘ride sheet’ must be completed before you report to the vet or trot-up person.

  5. Wear bib for vetting/trot up & hand vet sheet to the vet writer at the vetting area.

At the start Hand your vet sheet to the Starter. Be ready to go when told by the Starter.
During the ride

MARKING is with BIODEGRADABLE SPRAY, letters and red and white tape.

Hazards are marked with yellow tape.

Tell Checkpoint Stewards your number as you pass. Don’t expect them to guess!

Please be considerate when passing walkers or cyclists. "Walk only" section must be adhered to on penalty of elimination

After the ride Collect your Finish card from the Starter. Present to the vet any time within 30 minutes of finishing – the latest time will be on your card. Attend to your horse & present wearing your bib.
After Vetting Make your horse comfortable. Return bib to caravan & collect results & mileage card etc
Crewing Access There is very limited crewing on this ride, the only crew point is at the public car park in Drumtochty Glen.

WATER 

There is  water available at the venue.
First Aid Kit

Compulsory for all riders : the following items must be carried

Space blanket : ID card (must show name, address, contact for next of kin & any known allergies) : whistle : triangular bandage : vet wrap : padded wound dressing ; glucose tabs  (Non members can hire bumbag with First Aid from admin.)
Hats As of February 2013, riding hats which conform to current European [EN], British [PAS], North American [ASTM/SEI], or Australian [AS/NZS] must be worn and properly secured.
